The Park District of Highland Park has awarded a $128,784 contract to the Chicago-based Lakota Group to develop a comprehensive master plan that will serve as a roadmap for the district's future needs.
The new consultants, selected after a call for proposals, is charged with evaluating parks, facilities/buildings, open space and amenities to develop goals, policies, guidelines and achievable strategies, according to the park district.
The comprehensive master plan created from this work effort "will be heavily used as a resource for future development and redevelopment of the park district’s parks, open space, and recreation system over the next five years," according to the park district.
The Lakota Group is expected to have its plan ready for park board approval mid-December, reported the Chicago Tribune.
