Two special events have been scheduled in celebration of the Highland Park Public Library's 125th anniversary.
Caroline Kennedy, honorary chair of National Library Week, will appear at 5 p.m. Friday, April 5 for the signing of her book Poems to Learn by Heart.
Tickets are $175 per person, which includes a signed copy of Kennedy's book and admission to the library's anniversary celebration at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 27. Cost to attend the party only is $125 per person.
Tickets may also be purchased at the library's check out desk.
Funds raised from both events will be dedicated to expanding library resources and services.
Library anniversary festivities kicked off last September in recognition of its creation 125 years ago.
At the July 7, 1887, meeting of the city council, a number of citizens presented a petition requesting that the council establish and maintain a public library. An ordinance was adopted on Sept. 14, 1887, according to the library.
