A 17-year-old Highland Park resident has become the third teen arrested as a result of police investigation into the armed burglary that took place on Parkside Drive earlier this month.
Teens Charged In Burglary: The Story so Far
Jacob A. Lynn, who lives in the 3000 block Parkside home that was broken into, has been arrested and charged as an adult for unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, unlawful possession of cannabis and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the Highland Park Police Department.
His arrest comes two weeks after Deerfield teens Joseph J. Mahoney and Joshua S. Norris, both 17, were arrested and charged as adults for home invasion, residential burglary and possession of a stolen firearm.
"That whole investigation revolving around the home invasion led us to this arrest," Highland Park Deputy Police Chief Dave Schwarz told Patch on Friday.
While clearing the house after the burglary, and upon further investigation, officers found drug paraphernalia and signs of cannabis possession in the Parkside home, according to Schwarz.
Police also found a safe that contained cannabis and belonged to Lynn, an incoming Highland Park High School senior.
"The residents at the home were cooperative at the time," Schwarz said.
Though Schwarz told Patch earlier that the Parkside home was not a random target, he would not comment Friday about what motives the accused burglars may have had.
"The facts are presented as is," Schwarz said. "Some of that may come out in trial."
Like Mahoney and Norris, Lynn has been charged as an adult. His bond was placed at $25,000 and Lynn posted $2,500 for his release. If convicted, Lynn could face up to five years in prison. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, August 30.
