At the end of two, four or more years of college, students graduate. Increasingly, they are doing so without having found that first great job they believed a degree would help them secure.
In a recent survey of 1,005 college graduates from 2011 and 2012, the consulting firm Accenture found that 41 percent were underemployed, working in jobs that do not require a college degree. Another seven percent haven’t had a job since they graduated. As of late March, the same survey found that only 16 percent of students scheduled to graduate in 2013 had landed a job.
To help recent or soon-to-be graduates both focus and jump start their job search efforts, CareerPlace™ in Barrington, a non-profit organization helping people in transition develop highly effective job search skills, is offering a three-day boot camp on June 17, 19 and 21. The College to Career program will offer 10 hands-on workshops during three, full-day sessions (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
“For families who have spent thousands of dollars helping students learn career skills, the $80 fee for this workshop program will be a small but vital investment in helping their students land the first job in their post-college career,” said Keith Owens, Program Director at CareerPlace.
College to Career workshop sessions will include:
- Overview of the Job Search Process – How it All Works Together
- Job Search Research Tools – How to Target Your Search
