Staffers and interns working for Democratic Congressional candidate Brad Schneider of Deerfield have been working hard this summer but they also find time for some fun in the campaign office.
Schneider’s staff has put together a team of nearly 80 college and high school interns this summer with a goal of making thousands of telephone calls to help elect Schneider to the United States House of Representatives. He is hoping to unseat incumbent Rep. Robert Dold (R-Kenilworth).
The interns and fellows have not only reached and surpassed 100,000 calls, but they took time to make a video and put it on YouTube. As of Friday, it was seen by almost 5,000 people, according to Schneider campaign manager Reed Adamson.
“We have such an impressive team of nearly 80 college and high school interns helping to spread the word and share their excitement for Brad's campaign,” Adamson said. “This was a fun and creative way for them to celebrate making over 100,000 calls this summer.”
The interns did not stop their moviemaking with the musical. They wanted to let people know what they were doing and perhaps recruit a few more to their number so they made a second video describing the campaign office experience.
Not only do the interns make phone calls, they walk door to door and perform some other tasks. “It’s anything and everything from canvassing and phone banking to social media,” an intern said in the second video.
