Only one thing was certain when the West Deerfield Township Republicans and Democrats met in caucus Tuesday.
That assurance was the Township will have a new supervisor to replace state Sen. Elect Julie Morrison (D-Deerfield) when she becomes a member of the Illinois General Assembly in January. She intends to resign her current position around that time.

Democrat Alyson Feiger of Deerfield and Republican Jack Koenig of Bannockburn will face off to become the new supervisor in the April 9 election. They were both chosen by their respective caucuses Tuesday.
An interim supervisor will be selected by the existing Township Board of Trustees after Morrison resigns to serve the rest of her term.
In addition to naming Koenig as their candidate for supervisor, the Republicans picked the rest of their slate Tuesday at their caucus in the Deerfield Village Hall, according to West Deerfield Township Republican Chairman Mark Shaw.
Linda Kozil of Deerfield is their choice for clerk. Trustee candidates are Marc Brown of Deerfield, Pat Falkowski of Lake Forest, Todd Bogwill of Lake Forest and Douglas Bennett of Deerfield. No one was slated for assessor.
“I know what it is like to be homeless,” Koenig, who was raised as an orphan, said. “I am very compassionate toward children and the elderly. We will use the Township’s resources to reach those who really need it.”
The Democrats chose a full slate of candidates at their caucus Tuesday at the Christ United Methodist Church in Deerfield, according to West Deerfield Township Democratic Chair Ellie Sylvan.
In addition to Feiger, Kristen Scott of Deerfield will run for reelection as clerk as will Assessor Tom Healy of Bannockburn. Trustee candidates are Ron Levitsky of Lake Forest, Ron Schwartz of Deerfield, John Lesiotis of Deerfield and Jack Strom of Highland Park.
“I look forward to building on the success the Township has had by building communication of all our services and continue transparency and fiscal responsibility,” Feiger said. “Services of the Township are going to be more important for our community as the state continues to cut more programs.”
West Deerfield Township includes all of Deerfield and parts of Lake Forest, Highland Park and Riverwoods.
