Former Illinois Governor George Ryan is at home in Kankakee this morning, after spending only a few house in a Chicago halfway house, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Ryan was released from prison yesterday after serving more than five years for corruption charges. He was expected to stay in the halfway house until July. The Chicago Sun-Times reports his release from the home was unexpected, and was a decision by the Bureau of Prisons.

Ryan will be under house arrest until July, the Tribune reports.
