With the best pizza among participating Deerfield and Highland Park eateries on the line at Pizza Bowl 2013 Sunday at Deerfield High School, Mayors Nancy Rotering of Highland Park and Harriet Rosenthal of Deerfield have placed a bet on the outcome.

Pizza from eight different restaurants will be available from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Deerfield High School. People can sample as many as they like and vote for their favorite. A trophy goes to the winner and the event will be more expensive for Rosenthal or Rotering.

Should a Highland Park pizzeria be chosen the winner, Rosenthal will make a $25 donation to the District 113 Foundation while Rotering will contribute $10. Should the winner come from Deerfield, the donations will be reversed.

“No matter who wins or loses our students are the winners,” Rosenthal said. “Good luck, Nancy.” All proceeds for the evening will go to the District 113 Foundation benefitting students at Deerfield and Highland Park High Schools.

Rotering echoes Rosenthal’s sentiments. “Regardless of which city boasts the best pizza (Highland Park), District 113's students will be the winners with our communities' generous support of the Foundation's education enrichment mission,” Rotering said.

The participating restaurants are Dominos, Il Forno (Highland Park), Il Forno (Deerfield), Lou Malnati’s, Moccio’s, NY Slices, Rosati’s and Viccino’s.

Patch will be there as well so anyone enjoying Pizza Bowl may find their picture on this site.
